Behind The Good Loop Program: Empowerment Starts with Community
Behind The Good Loop Program: Empowerment Starts with Community
Introducing a new opportunity for global volunteer impact
At Wearsos, community impact is what drives our mission, long before any product can be made. That is why we are thrilled to introduce The Good Loop: Volunteer for Impact, a project created by one of our former interns, Luana Portilho, to outreach our mission and connect passionate individuals with purpose-driven opportunities to create meaningful social impact.
“This program was born from the belief that we can create positive change no matter where we are. After finishing my co-op placement with Wearsos in Costa Rica, I still wanted to stay involved and continue supporting the mission from afar. Many local for-profits and nonprofits already have the vision—they just need a few extra hands. Sometimes, all it takes is a handful of people, ready and willing to make a difference, to help bring that vision to life.” said Luana.
The concept behind The Good Loop is that volunteers don’t just give their time; they gain skills and real-world experience in the context of operating a social enterprise—while learning about sustainability, empowerment, and education. Volunteers can gain hands-on experience in circular economy practices and contribute to meaningful projects and initiatives that uplift our community in Turrialba, Costa Rica.
We’re thrilled to welcome our newest team members who are joining us this summer as part of the Good Loop program. We look forward to seeing the energy and ideas they’ll bring to Wearsos’ mission—and we’re just as excited for the growth and learning they’ll gain through this experience, both personally and professionally.
We’d like to extend a special thank you to Abilene Christian University for making it possible for a few of these amazing people to participate in Wearsos not only as volunteers but also as interns. As well, this initiative would not be possible without Southwest Airlines' program Repurpose with Purpose. A global sustainability initiative… Through this partnership, their experience with us can count toward their academic development, transforming volunteer service into a meaningful, hands-on internship around sustainability and community impact values.

At the heart of The Good Loop is a commitment to creating a space where community grows. By participating, volunteers are not just joining a program; they're becoming part of a global movement dedicated to building a better future. When one person contributes, another is empowered. And when someone is empowered, they create change that benefits everyone. That's what makes it a loop—and that's what makes it good.
Thank You
We’re deeply grateful to everyone who makes The Good Loop possible—our dedicated volunteers, university partners, and the communities that inspire our work every day. Together, we’re building more than just products; we’re building connection, purpose, and a future rooted in sustainability and care. Thank you for being part of the Wearsos community.
